Editorial Standards

Sources first. Dates visible. Corrections accessible.

StaxxRewards publishes educational information about credit-card rewards and builds tools that estimate how reviewed cards may fit a visitor’s stated spending and preferences.

Our goal is useful, understandable work that separates verified facts from estimates, keeps commercial relationships visible and corrects meaningful errors.

Who publishes our work

StaxxRewards is published by Staxx Media, Inc.

Public articles and guides may use the institutional byline StaxxRewards Editorial. Internally, every published item should still have an owner, reviewer and fact-check record. An institutional byline is not permission to publish without accountability.

We do not use invented people, stock-photo experts, AI-generated spokespeople, fake signatures or fictional biographies to imply authority.

Our source standards

We use primary sources whenever a primary source exists.

Our preferred order is:

  • current issuer product, pricing, rewards-program, benefit and application terms;

  • statutes, regulations, agency guidance, enforcement material and official technical standards;

  • issuer or agency announcements;

  • documented StaxxRewards calculations and tests; and

  • reliable secondary sources when primary material does not answer the question.

Secondary reporting may add context, but it should not replace available official terms for a product claim.

Every factual statement that can change should be connected to a source and review date in the editorial record. Every active product used in a result should have an official source URL and a last-reviewed date.

Facts, estimates and editorial judgment

Fact: a claim supported by a cited source, such as an annual fee or published earning rate.

Estimate: a modeled outcome that depends on inputs and assumptions, such as estimated annual rewards.

Editorial judgment: a conclusion based on stated criteria, such as whether a setup is simpler to manage.

Advertising or sponsored content: paid material identified clearly before a reader acts on it.

We label estimates and explain the assumptions that meaningfully affect them. We do not present an estimate as a guarantee.

How we check product information

Before discussing a product in a result, review, comparison or monetized guide, we check the information that matters to the claim, including:

  • exact product and issuer name;

  • annual fee;

  • earning rates and exclusions;

  • spending caps and reset periods;

  • reward currency and the valuation used;

  • statement credits and important restrictions;

  • foreign-transaction fee when relevant;

  • offer eligibility and application caveats when discussed;

  • official terms URL;

  • affiliate or sponsored status; and

  • last-reviewed date.

Product terms can change between reviews. If a material term cannot be verified, we should remove the claim or mark the product inactive until it is checked again.

Standards for the quiz and result

The StaxxRewards experience should:

  • use a documented, repeatable method;

  • keep the three-question quiz clear and easy to complete;

  • assign spending once;

  • apply published category caps and rates consistently;

  • show annual fees and any credits included in the estimate;

  • exclude welcome offers from the main ongoing-value figure;

  • show important assumptions and exclusions;

  • link to official product terms and review dates;

  • make the result available without requiring an email address;

  • allow a result with fewer than three cards when simpler is more useful; and

  • keep affiliate compensation out of the reward calculation.

Rankings, comparisons and “best” language

We avoid market-wide claims when the evidence covers only a limited set of products.

Acceptable wording identifies the scope, for example:

  • “a strong fit for the spending entered”;

  • “the highest modeled value among the cards reviewed for this result”; or

  • “a practical option for this role in the stack.”

We should not say “the best card in America,” “the card that pays everyone the most,” “guaranteed approval” or similar absolute language without current and complete evidence.

Independence and commercial relationships

StaxxRewards may receive compensation when a reader uses certain links. Compensation may affect which offers are available or where offers appear. It should not change the reward math or an editorial conclusion.

Commercial relationships must be disclosed clearly and close to the recommendation or action—not hidden only in the footer.

Read How We Make Money and the Affiliate Disclosure.

Testimonials and social proof

We do not publish:

  • invented testimonials or reviews;

  • endorsements from people who did not provide them;

  • material connections without disclosure;

  • unsupported typical-results claims;

  • copied reviews presented as our own; or

  • fictional names, titles, photographs or avatars designed to look like real customers or experts.

A testimonial must be documented, permissioned, accurately quoted and accompanied by any required disclosure.

Images and product artwork

Every image should have a documented license, permission, original-creation record or permitted source. Product images and card artwork should follow the issuer’s current usage requirements.

Informative images receive useful alternative text. Decorative images receive empty alternative text. We do not use a person’s image, silhouette or AI-generated human to imply a real employee or endorsement.

Use of AI tools

AI tools may assist research organization, drafting, editing, code or quality checks. They do not replace human review.

Before publication, a human owner should:

  • verify material facts against the cited sources;

  • test calculations and links;

  • confirm that no source, quote, person, product term or testimonial was invented;

  • check disclosure placement;

  • review the work for clarity, fairness and privacy; and

  • record the review date and publication status.

AI-assisted work should not be described as attorney-reviewed, issuer-approved or independently tested unless that is true and documented.

Responsible credit-card coverage

Rewards can be outweighed by interest and fees. We do not encourage a visitor to carry a balance to earn rewards.

We distinguish taking the quiz from applying for a card. The quiz does not request a credit report. The issuer—not StaxxRewards—decides approval, pricing and credit limits.

We do not request Social Security numbers, bank credentials, full card numbers or account passwords through the quiz.

Privacy and data minimization

We collect only the information needed for the requested feature. An on-screen result should not require identity or an email address.

Sending a result and subscribing to the Sunday Brief are separate choices. Newsletter consent should be affirmative and unchecked by default.

Read the Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

Updates, corrections and retractions

We update work when a source, product, law or methodology changes. A silent wording cleanup is different from a material correction.

If an error changed a recommendation, estimate, material product fact, disclosure or conclusion, the page should carry a dated correction note explaining what changed and whether the outcome was affected. Content that cannot be responsibly corrected may be withdrawn or retracted.

Readers can report a concern at info@staxxrewards.com. Read the Corrections Policy.

Conflicts and sponsored work

Writers and reviewers should disclose financial, employment, family, gift, travel or other relationships that could reasonably affect—or appear to affect—their work.

Sponsored content, if StaxxRewards accepts it in the future, should be labeled clearly as advertising or sponsored content, separated from independent editorial work, reviewed for substantiation and disclosure, and excluded from the result calculation unless it independently satisfies the same published rules.
